Hey dolls –
So it’s about time I wrapped up my NYFW experience! lol Things have been a bit hectic in my household so I’m finally getting a chance to sit down and dish about my last day in NY!
While I didn’t have an early start on Sunday, my body definitely decided it had other plans for me because it decided to wake up at the crack of dawn! lol Seriously after final falling asleep around 1 am, waking up at 7:30 wasn’t the brightest moment of the day. I probably laid in bed for another 30 minutes before I got a text from Toya asking if to do breakfast and then take the train to Brooklyn. Of course that was all I needed to get up and start getting dressed.
We stopped at Dunkin Doughnuts for a quick bite and then off to Brooklyn we went! I was super excited because one of my blogger friends Tarah hit me up and we planned to meet up at the Essence Street Style Block Party! I wanted to get all the site seeing I could get in because later that day I had an evening full of shows!
I opted to wear my God Be Knowin tee (of course) and my plum tulle skirt I got from Windsor. I had learned from the previous day that I needed to stay far away from blazers! lol I wore my fave black wedges and put on a gold head band to help complete the look. I don’t know what look I was going for but as long as I could twirl and be comfortable then I was all good!
The original plan was to see this killer heels exhibit that was at the Brooklyn Museum but once we got there we quickly found out were a couple days early and it didn’t start until later that week (booooo!). We were all going to go to the Essence Block Party together but we couldn’t find a cab and the train would’ve taken too long so Toya and Carmen left to make their afternoon show and I decided to brave Brooklyn alone.
Now let me tell you, at first I thought I was gucci. I mean, I’m grown and I could handle getting around BK by myself right? WRONG! LOL Not only did I almost get on the wrong train when I finally got off on the right stop I started walking in the opposite direction! LOL As a wave of panic started to rush over me, I decided to stop in a shop and ask for directions. The sales people were extremely nice but even they didn’t seem to confident in the directions they gave me. So there I was in Brooklyn with a dying phone and no clue as to where I was or how to get to the block party, but I was determined to get there! Just as I was about to give up and turn to go back to the subway, I saw these two cute girls who looked like they may be going to the block party and decided to discreetly and semi-awkwardly follow them. Now I know it probably wasn’t the best decision but I trusted my instinct and they led me right to it!
After looking at all the amazing vendors, stopping by the Chevy tent to charge my phone, meeting Gabby from gabifresh.com, hearing Jasmine Sullivan sang her heart out, and finally meeting my blogger babe Tarah (Adorned in Armor) it was time to head back to Manhattan and to see some shows!
Now you know the first stop was back at the tents! I hadn’t had my offical shot in front of the tents yet and the trip wouldn’t have been complete without one. So as I was walking up the steps to the Lincoln center and started to take pictures, I had my Carrie moment! I twirled, laughed and took it all in! There I was, accomplishing something for YEARS I had talked about, for YEARS I had dreamed about and it was happening! Words can’t express what I felt in that moment, it was surreal, it was life, it was EVERYTHING!!
The shows I had that evening were at MILK Studios in Chelsea so I hopped back on the train and got there just in time to snag some pics of the Pyer Moss and Devon Halfnight Leflufy presentations. I got my times mixed up with the Rochambeau presentation but I was able to find some pretty dope shots on Instagram of the show!
I especially fell in love with the Pyer Moss and the pictures from the Rochambeau presentation. Rochambeau’s dock set definitely brought the beach to the city. With his earth tones, subtle layering and variety of causal day looks, you could definitely get the feel that he was going for a more relaxed men’s look this Spring.
What I loved most about the Pyer Moss presentation was how he embraced the masculinity of the male with structured jackets and tailored shirts. He too embraced Spring layering giving us layered shorts and shirts but it was his attention to detail in the structure, shape and fit of his pieces that won me over. Definitely some great looks for modern males who are looking to step out of their comfort zones.

The last show of the night was a presentation for Milane Noir! Milane is an emerging young fashion designer from New York and it was so much fun being able to view her womenswear presentation. Her Spring line was called Sol which means sunshine and her line was filled with fun wearable pieces. She incorporated matched sets and stuck to fabrics that were comfortable to wear. My fave was the crochet matched set. Everything from the scalloped edges to the fit made it easy to see me incorporating it into my wardrobe in some way. Overall I loved her spirit and how she wasn’t afraid to add that pop of print in her line!
By the time I was finished with that presentation I was DONE for the day. I was so tired and hot and just needed sleep! After walking back to the hotel room, I was convinced to try some $1 pizza and I must say it was quite tasty! LOL
My time in New York was magical!! I met some amazing people and had the time of my life! I’m forever grateful that I was able to get this experience and it’s one I’ll never forget!! If any of you know me then you know the plan is to make this happen both Spring and Fall!! lol
Hope you guys enjoyed reading my NYFW recaps!!
